PowerOPS Human-Machine Interface Software
Background
SimGenics developed the PowerOPS HMI system for conventional power plants to simulate hard panels and create the so-called “glass-top” simulators. Figures 1 and 2 show two implementations of PowerOPS for hard panel simulations.
The implemented technology lends itself to a customizable Human-Machine-Interface (HMI) configuration that can be connected to any DCS without losing the DCS functionality.
PowerOPS can be interfaced with the SimGenics suite of simulation software, legacy SimGenics simulators, or any commercial simulation software package used in the power plant simulator environment.
NUREG-0700
The NUREG-0700 requirement for nuclear power plants contains the guidelines for reviewing seven systems: alarm system, safety parameter display system, group-view display system, soft control system, computer-based procedure system, automation system, and communication system. The guidelines include the functional aspects of the system, as well as any unique considerations for display, user-system interaction, and control that may be needed to review the system.
PowerOPS is now used on the XE-100 simulator mock-up control room, as shown in Figure 3, and it has the potential to be used on the real plant as well.
